SSA2218
note that i have put the module code as my title.
to faciliate anyone who wants to know how it is like to take the module and has decided to google for it.
and for the lecturers to see how i think should they begin to goggle for their own module out of egoistic-ness
basically this module is not very hard.
however, they have some stuck up lecturers.
this is one of those modules who lecturers only want you to replicate what they have said in the papers.
in fact, there is not room for creativity at all.
there are so many arts student. why do you think that arts students CAP are usually low?
many people wanted to go to arts because it offers them the opportunity to write how they feel into esseay and have impressive points of views, new horizons.
basically, arts modules should teach students how to analyse.
however, this is not the case in many of the modules.
some lecturers only want you to replicate what they have told u in the finals and you will get a respectable grade.
and if u are able to replicate what they have told u in good english, you get good grades.
students are only taught how to take exams.
u cannot write whatever you think, you will get poor grades
maybe they give you a C+ for the courage to go against the flow.
we are taught to be non-mainstream in a mainstream(the lecturer's) way.
and arts students generally believe that they have their own thought and own way of thinking, but they are forced to think in a particular way, thats y average grades of arts students are generally lower,
not because they are less capable or what
hey stuck up fools, just because you think u are right and you have some masters or doctorate, doesnt mean that we cannot have our point of view!!
you cannot expect to set a paper and then expect the answers to be what u have spoken, not in arts. we have our way of thinking too.
wat do u think u are? a cult leader?
just because u think that 12 storeys is an english film does not remove the fact that it is 2/3 in chinese and dialect and many people, when asked, are confused whether its an english film or a chinese film.
i asked the lecturer what is considered as a chinese film and what as an english film.
her attitude startled me.
i had expected her to stop and think why in the first place i would ask her what is an english film and what is a chinese film?
she looked at me as if i had asked a very stupid question.
"its a film that is predominantly in chinese(for chinese film) or english(english film) "
so what about 12 storeys?
"an english film(w/o thinking)"
is there such thing as a chinese singapore film at all?
they are all in dialects wat. cant i say that it is a hokkien film(15) ?
or maybe its the part of the singapore identity thing, that we speak all kind of languages?
i think these people are getting so snobbish when they get high high level of education, they began to think that we are stupid kids that should blindly follow her "cult" to safely get the grades wat want. and we only know how to nod our heads.
i prefer engine,
right is right and wrong is wrong. black and white, 1 or 0
no stupid cults to follow huh...
although we are still only trained to take exams.
take exams take exams, is the only thing that we have ever really learnts right from primary school
some people score better than others not because they are smarter,
they are just able to guess what the examiner what from you.
in real life cases, where questions are not nicely phrased out for u, these people cannot solve them. just look at those poly students, they are so hands on, i think they make better workers compared to uni peeps who oni know how to TAKE EXAMS.
we study with the motivation to take exams, not to learn things.
this one wont come out one lar, dont understand never mind, and we skip!
just attend the last lecture, all the tips will be given then!
