Retirement in thailand ysing real estate

Over dinner, we were chatting with a thai colleague over here. He generously shared that with his savings, he bought 2 pieces of land and constructed 2 bulidings. One with 10 rooms and another with 20 rooms. Each room he is able to collect a rent of 2000bht a mth.

Investments were about a total of 12mil bht. And the land prices go up abt 2-3% a year. This example is taken off some land in Pattaya area.

Other expenses are neglible.
Isn't it not too bad as a retirement plan?

My Australia colleague calculated it to be about 12% return a year. I dont know how he derived that but, if thats true its not bad!

I just blacked out

Was just having dinner with my colleague, had a few sips of gin tonic, and suddenly, things became blurry.
I thought i was drunk, so i was slightly surprised when my colleague got worried and i hear him kept asking if i am alright.

And then i blacked out. He told me i blacked out for at least a minute and he was almost ready to call an ambulance.

I woke up feeling slightly feeble and everyone in the restuarant surrounding me. Turns out it was an epilesy attack.

Although it seems scary to most people, i actually dont mind just dying like this. Blacking out and be gone.

Crazy but true.

Smith at Sukhumvit 49

Client has treated us to dinner again :))))
Very nice restaurant and super yummy!
Very reasonable prices at about 850bht++ for a set dinner including a starter(choice of salad), a main and a dessert.

My peekatee pork. The fats, soft meat and crispy skin creates a nice combination in your mouth. The red thing you see below beside the mash are actually seasoned cabbage with cranberries, giving the whole dish a little sweet and sour twist. This was about 400bht. 

One of my clients ordered this and kindly allowed me to take a picture. This is also about 400bht.

These were the best!! Warm little buns with softened butter. The buns were soft, fluffy and had a little wholemeal in it.

Dont stuff yourself too much on those! I made that mistake and by the time it was mains i was already pretty full. 

Easier said than done, since they are so tasty.

Starters, pulled pork, complimentary. Thank you. But these were rather forgettable.

They had a very nice industrial feel to it. 

However, i noticed that the place had no fire protection at all! No sprinklers, no exit lights.

Reasonable price too, with mains from 300bht to 600 bht,
Desserts at about 200 bht

Mushroom burger with bacon at 450 bht

the complimentary bread is soo nice. I like it here in bangkok i always find places with complimentary bread in western dining places. The fries were hand cut and tasted pretty nice. The burger had mushrooms and bacon in it. Need i say more? Overall its pretty decent.

View outside. You can see nice artificial waterfall. But notice also the water stains on the walls. In wonder how they maintain it.

Strawberry honey tea 120baht.

with real strawberrys and strawberry sorbet.

apple strudel with rum soaked raisins and walnust wrapped with phyllo and a salted caramel ice cream 250 baht

the crust was really nice and broken immediately my fork touched it as you expect from phyllo. The apples inside are too hard/raw though, a pity. The ice cream was fine but nothing speacial.

Ice skating

I am all bruised from skating. At the end I've lost count how many times I've fell because I have someone saying, faster faster, lean forward, more on one leg more on on leg!!!!!

Many people, even the crew there said my bf is a jerk, allowing me to fall byself.

I felt like saying to the crew, without him, i would still be holding the the side rails like those pathetic people. I stopped holding to the side like 5 mins after i entered because he pushes me to be strong. I started gliding in my second session because he pushes me to be brave.

I think caring for someone does not mean treating them like a baby, fearing them that they might get hurt all the time. Caring for someone can also mean wanting for them to be stronger while bearing the guilt of being pushy and cruel.

Dating him exposes me to:
- Russian culture -- fearlessness pushes growth
- Marine culture -- that results could only be yielded by discipline.

I dont know if he is really as good as I had described, but for sure I know I have became more resilient and disciplined.

Stop looking at the phone, lets talk.

And you face that awkward situation where everyone puts down the phone and realise that the reason why they were looking at the phine in the first place aas because there was nothing to talk about.

Learning violin

Before u sign up for that adult course.
You will have to know that learning violin requires u to cut ALL your nails. This picture here, my nails are considered long.
So.... if u are some gelish lover, forget about violin. Learn the french horn maybe?

What i want in life

What i want in life?
I want to play all day! Do nothing and play all day!

But i am so used to turning on the professional mode when someone ask me. And i go:
I want to change the industry, change the world
I seek to inspire and be inspired
I want to spread my passion in construction and in BIM to others.
I want to keep learning and developing.

I dont even know how true are these words. Then why am i so disinterested at work?

Oh manz, life.

Sometimes i thought it would be nice to have a baby in the tummy, doing nothing, waiting for a delivery. Or have twins running around me. But that's just my hormones working.

Why does he consistantly point out twins kids and tell me they are cute? Does he want that too? 😍😍😍😍😍

Stop hormones, stop taking over my mind.

7th October

Some things in today:
Gained 2kg, decided to go on a no carb diet
Chapped lips
Skipped breakfast
Salad lunch
Debated with project manager, again.
Cancelled dinner (my friend said he forgot!!! I had to act like thats an acceptable excuse) "☺, its okay, dont worry!"

Bf talked something about comsol for his phd project to measure magnetic flux.

What about a little drone that is like Quidditch and people chase it around on skates. Isnt that fun? Disinterested bf suggested wings to be sharp to cut all the players.
He wants to be there to protect me from geeks :) sounds weird but still sweet.

Practised violin. Why do i sound so squeakly. Maybe I'll google how to not sound squeakly on a violin.

Work
How do we manage typical units on a BIM model? It gets more and more complicated... so many files, so many updates.... designing a unit first before the building... are the benefits really worth it?

Is all this pre-planning all necessary? I don't even know what the consultants think.
